Long House
Bighouse 1918. This structure, an authentic copy of a traditional Lenni Lenape longhouse, was built by the scoutmasters of Delaware and Montgomery counties (hence the name Delmont) in memory of Council President Winthrop Sargent (1853-1932). It was used for rainy day camp activities and ceremonies of the "Unami Tribe", a pre-Order of the Arrow honor society. After the Bartlesville, Oklahoma tribe of the surviving Lenni Lenape left their bighouse fall into disrepair in the 1920s this became the only remaining bighouse of it's kind in the world. It sat on the West side of Lake Long, and was removed sometime in the late 1940s.
